Bendigo Family History Expo

Posted by Mark @ Archival Access Victoria on March 27, 2012 at 5:15 AM

I’ve just set my computer back after it’s little road trip to Bendigo on the weekend. We took the whole show on the road in order to showcase the wonderful digitised records we have collected over the past six months and explain how the records at the PROV can be used to add a few more pages to a family history.

The Kangaroo Flat Leisure Centre was buzzing all day with experts offering advice and eager researchers hoping to break through a brick wall or two. Inquests, asylum records and land records were the flavour of the day – with many researchers coming to me with clues found just moments before at another stall. Searching the PROV catalogue on site, I was able to track down records right away for some delighted researchers.

We were tucked away where all the cups of tea were being served – something I was thankful for as a I didn’t stop talking all day and a nice hot cuppa sure sooths the throat!

It was a great day out and wonderful opportunity to spend time helping others in their quest for little more information to add to their family story.

Very much looking forward to next years expo and getting out and talking again at other events around the place.

Cheers – Mark
